Imagine sitting in the back of an Ivory truck. Glancing back at the carrier full of Ivory. So many more trucks are following. The trucks are speeding into the Ivory storage factory. You see the crates full of Ivory. They are rushing to get these on to the carrier boats and you realize, many elephants have died because of the Ivory Trade is causing many problems, so many countries have banned Ivory selling. Ivory trade has killed many elephants, because of this many countries have banned Ivory trade but many have not. This means that ivory is a big problem.
China Buys The Most Ivory
Most Chinese people enjoy having ivory jewelry, fancy carvings and art make from Ivory, millions of elephants are killed each year because of their tucks. For example China reserves the most Ivory in the world. Like China the United states stand second.
In 2014, Barack Obama said “The United States should have new and improved rules about Ivory.” Such as New York ,also New jersey, they have made laws on banning Ivory trade,but most states have not.
Additional hunters are not able to bring Ivory in to the united states of america. For example China and the U.S.A has not stopped imports and exports on transportation Ivory. President Obama ,and the Chinese President Jinping met and said the they would not stop but they would help each other's country to get more Ivory.
Illegal selling are casing problems
Right now you probably don't know what ivory is, why do hunters want ivory? What is ivory? Ivory is a hard creamy-white substance composing the main part of the tusks of an elephant, walrus, and narwhal, often (especially formerly) used to make ornaments and other articles. Ivory can be worth lots of money.
Leaders of animal rights thinks that selling Elephants trunks are causing problems. This also makes other sellings easier. Not stopping selling elephants trunks is illegal. Nature groups, say that ivory selling/trading needs to stop! And other animal groups agree.
This includes a half-century ,of white rhinos are and were being hunted in Africa. Now, only around 25,000 rhinos live in the continent of Africa, most likely in south Africa and a little bit in Namibia and Kenya. The population of elephants and rhinos in Africa are the most celebrated animals and the population is falling fast the population of the animals have fallen 10-20 million in a half of a century ago.
Also going on a rate for elephants tusks in Asia are persed around 1,500$ per pound. Rhinos horns are around $45,00 or even more! Prices like this, isn't a surprise that poaching has become more that $20 billion a year.
Wildlife World fund makes that there are about 400 tons of ivory and thay have taken about 50,000 elephants, now there are only roughly about 5,000 elephants left in central Africa. Tanzania's, elephants population is now two thirds or more than 25,000 animals , from 2009- to 2014. During the same time period as Mozambique's, elephants have fallen by almost 40 percents. Every last White rhino has been wiped out from Mozambique.
